Funny you should say that: one of the biggest cheers at the bar where we watched the speech came when President Obama gave a shout-out to "nonbelievers" . . .
1) Yes, that's right: we watched at a bar. At 8:00am. It was standing-room-only. It was our second choice, since the first place was packed at 7:30. !!!
(On the upside, the fried fish place next door was selling egg sandwiches and delicious potatoes.)
2) Many things to be amazed and grateful for today, but one just keeps coming back to me. I can't really put it into words too well, but here's David Sanger for the Times:
"he barely mentioned his race. He did not need to. The surroundings said it all as he stood on the steps of a Capitol built by the hands of slaves, and as he placed his own hand on the Bible last used by Abraham Lincoln."
God Bless America!!!
