How the West Was Won

Franklin Smile
Well, we're all moved in here at the new place. Or at least, all of our stuff is here. Funny how just moving to a different neighborhood in the same city can feel so different!

Glad we had the chance to play and see friends before we left. I know I posted photos from that last time, now thanks to Pete there's video too!

Meanwhile we've enjoyed our first apartment with views since we've been in Seattle:

And yes, just to be clear, West Seattle is a neighborhood in Seattle :)

Anyway, one nice bonus of the new neighborhood that I didn't know about ahead of time is the Seattle Fish Company. Perfect timing, to move here right when the famous Copper River salmon are in season!

Great first meal cooked in the new place!

And by a great bit of luck, our friend Elliott (and his dad, mom, and new baby sister) are spending the summer in the neighborhood:

Looking forward to a super fun summer!

Here we go!

On the Move

Busy week, busy weekend, busy big kid. Not glittering prose, I guess, but that about sums it up.

Doing our best to enjoy our last few days as Capitol Hill residents. And Emily's done an amazing job getting things packed and ready to go! Thanks!

Speaking of, sorry that I missed Mother's Day (my conference was pretty fun if you're wondering, and it was great to see some old friends in the Bay Area). But I'm glad I at least saw this photo from when Franklin took his mom and my mom out for ice cream:

Also glad I got to witness his brief whirlwind tour of all the toys/apparatuses at Volunteer Park that he'd never really played with during the first two years of our weekly visits up there:

And done.

They're been showing our current apartment a lot lately, but it's not a bad excuse to grab a ball and run across the street to play for a few minutes. Right?
Hmm...

Ah, there's that smile:

Which catches us up to this morning's visit to Miller Park:

Hard to believe this guy still sleeps in a crib; guess it just hasn't occurred to him to try climbing out?
(Alternate title: hover much, dad?)

And one last visit to the Volunteer Park playground:

Emmett, Rose, Nick, and us. Thanks to everyone else for coming too—Bria, Michael, Ben, Vince, Pete, Regan, and Grandma.

All right, should probably get back to work. Before you know it our view of Capitol Hill will be replaced by this one:

Be a tough adjustment, but that peak should help...

Heading Home

Well it's official and before you know it we'll have a balcony with this view, overlooking the rest of the city from our new place in West Seattle:
View
I hope you'll come enjoy the view, reader!

Maybe warm up by the fire next winter?

Anyway, bottom line is that we'll be renting a unit here:
Sound Crest

It's definitely going to be rough to have to leave Capitol Hill, but I do think the new neighborhood looks pretty good. And it's very encouraging to see that our new address is considered a "walker's paradise" on walkscore.com:

My commute doesn't look too bad:

And they don't even mention that there's also a water taxi to West Seattle!

All right, so, now to actually move... Got some boxes from the movers:
Ready?

And at least one of us is eager to start packing:

But in some brilliantly inconvenient planning, I'm about to fly to California for this year's West Coast Plato Workshop. One last chance to rest and relax before the big move...

See you there, reader!
