I know that this a bit Leno-like, but this AP photo (taken by Andrew Laker) is just too funny: The accompanying article, of course, is about the debate over making English our official language. . . .
Reading the article reminded me of when I lived in France and how terrified they were of what they called "franglais" -- the seeping into their language of English words and idioms.
Then I think of Merrica, living in a small town in Japan, teaching high school students American conversation and culture. (She is the only person I know who gets paid to carve pumpkins and color Easter eggs!)
