Things Are Getting Weird... Or, Go Hawks!

You know things are getting weird when someone like me comes home from his favorite natural foods co-op with these items in his bag:


And by "someone like me" I mean someone who's pretty sure that at the end of the day the answer to the question in this headline is Yes:


Anyway, what choice do I have? As I'm sure you know, our house is now in the hands of a thoroughly committed fan:

A Quick Good Night

Okay I guess I'm just not used to balancing this much teaching any more... So, not a lot of time to blog, but how about this little clip of my favorite guy and one of my favorite times of day:

The "I love you's" are of course awesome, but note also the identification of Clement Hurd, illustrator of Goodnight Moon, and the demand that we "turn the light off!" That guy...

Meanwhile he sure likes the sports (thanks for the photo Pete!):

At first when I said this I was kidding, but I now think that he may in fact already have more athletic ability than either of us...

Finally, I already posted this on Facebook, but it would be unfair to posterity not to also mention this awesome recipe here:

Happy Christmas to All

Thanks to Aunt Magen, Uncle Dave, Braxton, Amelia, Evan, Nana, and Papa for a great Christmas visit!

Thanks for the photo too, Magen! Not easy to get almost everyone in one picture, and with the FoxCycle too!

Great to see Franklin spend some time with his cousins:

And adorable, if a little poignant that even after we've been back almost a week he still asks about going back to "Aunt Magen's house" :)

Here we see sweet potatoes on their way to being roasted with coconut milk, cilantro, and my favorite condiment, Sriracha:

What you can't see in this photo, of course, is an enthusiastic Franklin, clapping and saying "And again, Jingle Bells!"

At first he didn't like the cold (and don't even ask about trying to go sledding during nap time), but eventually Franklin seemed to enjoy the snow:

We also visited Great Aunt Dorothy, which was good, though I forgot to take any pictures there.

Had to take this one on the way though: maybe, unlike us, you heard about all the Dominick's grocery stores (no relation) being permanently closed around Chicago. So weird being inside one on its last day:
